There are soooo many nice, and really nice, new-ish subdivisions in the highly desired North Central area, north of Loop 1604 that most can be 'bundled' together under Stone Oak, Cibolo/Cibolo Canyon, The Encinos, and Lookout Canyon. Some of these subdivisions are gated, some have minimum 1 acre (or more) properties, a few are Garden Patio areas, some are outside city limits (and city taxes) but inside Bexar County, some are farther north and in Comal or Kendall counties -- there is a really wide variety of properties in this fairly vast North Central area.
The general growth pattern of the City of San Antonio has been to the North and Northwest, and the higher property values in Bexar County are generally in the North Central area. Always bear in mind that different school districts affect the value of properties, and therefore, the values of those properties, and their property taxes, support those school districts.
